London, once the centre of the greatest empire to ever have existed, pushed to the side by the growing superpowers. The details of the war are inconsequential, the reasons, purely human. Too many people, not enough resources. The European Union attempted to hold the superpowers of Russia, the United States, and China apart. But soon the struggle for resources caused the union to collapse. The individual countries prepared for war, and the gas reserves of the North Sea became a major battleground. The United Kingdom fortified herself, enormous gun batteries, the Royal Navy returned to its former power. As the superpowers fought eachother for the Alaskan oil, and Russia's reserves, the conflict became bloody trench warfare. The defences of the United Kingdom finally fell in the year 2022. The deuch-franko alliance decimated the Royal Navy, and laid siege on London. But this victory was to be short lived, on the verge of defeat, the United States unleashed nuclear Armageddon, within minutes, every nuclear capable country had fired every one of its missiles. The world bathed in nuclear fire.

You survived in the London Underground, once a transport system, converted in times of war into an extensive bunker system. Perhaps you were born behind its steel doors, perhaps you know of how life above was. It has been 20 years to the day since the doors closed, locking millions outside to their fate. The 20 year quarantine has ended... And the great doors have unlocked, allowing those survivors to venture forth, into the wastes.

Valkyria chronicles: lore and the story states that the empire attacked Gallia with overwhelming military might and superior war technology.... then why, oh why, do i feel like im using sticks and stones against tanks in the DLC where im with the attacking imperials...?
my tanks can barely move, my weapons barely deal any damage, im instantly annihilated by anything even in cover, and its true for even my snipers that not only do they miss someones head from 50 meters, the miss his body, the tank behind him, and the broadside of the barn its parked in front of....
even a direct hit with the mortar of my tanks barely scratches enemies. meanwhile, they shoot back a mortar shell and half my squad is wiped out instantly....

somehow in every fething game, when you finally get to play the superior character/faction you have been struggling against until then, they suddenly become shit....

how in the unholy fuck could that fucking empire invade fucking gallia... im with their troops now and they are worse than pitting my brand new greenhorn recruits against end-game elites! these are the worst soldiers in the history of any universe! they are less accurate than Imperial Stormtroopers, and die more easily than the crew in the original Star Trek! a single enemy shocktrooper tears through my defenses, captures all my bases, and kills everyone on the way, absolutely impervious to return fire!
and i have to storm a fortified enemy position guarded by machine guns, a tank, and stormtroopers with these guys to unlock hidden content!

This mission in particaular is from the "Behind her blue flame" DLC though

awesome... now i unlocked the damn hidden bonus mission in which i am supposedly with the super OP Valkyria who haunted all of gallia throughout the campaign.... aaaaand, she sucks.....
when i fought her, she was absolutely invincible... she played baseball with tank shells, walked through a practically solid field of lead without taking a single scratch, and dodged sniper shots fired from a kilometer behind her.... all the while, she moved across the battlefield with the speed of a fleeing frenchman, annihilated my troops in trenches with a glance, and reduced half an armored division to molten slag with a single shot...
now that im with her, my entire squad spawns exposed to gatling turrets which somehow have triple their usual range, sniper accuracy, and our armor is actually worse than being naked, our tank cant hit shit.
meanwhile, the OP Valkyria strolls across the battlefield taking reasonable damage just from interception fire considering how invincible she is, her anti-infantry weapon cant hit the broadside of a barn, and her dreaded anti-tank shot has miniscule range....

I shall name this, PC Syndrome. As soon as a very powerful "bad guy" becomes a player character, he/she/it instantly contracts the Player Character Syndrome which reduces the subjects prowess by at least one magnitude. current cures for symptoms are limited to Console Commands Therapy, with the Ragequit Procedure postponing the effects it has on the subjects environment in the worst case
