Torrel: so....how about i tell you about orks. to pass the time

Nartan: Very well.

"well" *displays hologram of an ork boy* "in terms of biology the ork is possibly the most dangerous species in the galaxy. they are far stronger and tougher than any man, and their resilience is astounding. they can literally survive their head being removed if it is stitched back on within a few hours"

Nartan:.........I see.

"their technology is crude but effective. they have a massive preference of melee combat over ranged as most of them are terrible shots. But thanks to their biology their numbers are always at least ten times that of the force they are fighting. they are technically a type of fungus, and when an ork dies it releases hundreds of spores. each spore has a chance of growing into another ork"

Nartan: How.....can a fungus...? *He's clearly baffled by this.*

"no one knows. the most interesting part of the orks is their culture. you see, the more successful an ork is the larger he grows. the larger an ork is, the higher his rank. a large ork is typically known as a Nob *he displays a nob* which is equivalent to a squad leader. A very large one is known as a warboss *shows one* and they are the army commanders of the orks. in addition some orks are simply born knowing skills such as medical or mechanical ones instinctively, like how say for example a human is born knowing how to breath. The mechanics or 'meks' are surprisingly skilled, and this means that despite lacking proper factories, orks can manufacture great hordes of vehicles and weaponry, mostly made from the scrap of the vehicles of their opponents. these 'looted wagons' are incredibly common, and make up the bulk of the orks' vehicles"

Nartan: Is there no proper way to exterminate them?

"we dont know where their homeworld is or even if they have one. they are so numerous that exterminating the entire species would be close to impossible by our projections. However the orks are not intelligient. most cannot think tactically beyond charge headfirst at the enemy and hope for the best. as for their motivation, the ork likes nothing more than a fight, and that is all the motivation they need. they will fight anyone and anything, including eachother if there is no larger ork to keep them in line"

Nartan:.........So all you can hope to do is contain them? How have you managed this?

"with great difficulty and firepower"

Nartan:........I see....what else can you tell me about them?

"what experience does your species have with psykers?"

Nartan: Psykers?

"I wont get into it i couldnt explain it properly. but long story short, the orks are capable of some small things that are flat out impossible"

Nartan: Such as?

"Firing a weapon that has no firing mechanism. just basically a tube filled with bullets with a trigger. luckily the orks are too stupid to properly exploit this"

Nartan:........What sort of galaxy have my people wandered into?

"dont worry. we have strategies on beating them that we can happily teach you. the simplest is kill their leader. they'll begin infighting so much over who the new leader will be that they'll be easy prey"

Nartan: I see.....what about other species and groups?

"species, we havent encountered any others other than yourselves. groups, well, *explains about the brotherhood and consortium*"

Nartan: I see.....are your groups the only humans in the galaxy?

"no. we recently encountered the 'imperium of man'. from what we have gathered they are the main human faction, and the ones who stem from our homeworld of earth. they are, from what we can tell, the largest empire in the galaxy, and are a xenophobic zealous theocricy"

Nartan: So I can assume they wouldn't be open to diplomacy?

"they would not. we have encountered them once. they were diplomatic with us because we are humans but we fear war is inevitable"

Nartan: *Sighs* And here I was hoping to potentially find sanctuary for the people of the Outer Colonies.

"hey, if things go the way i think they will my people will help you"

Nartan: And what of this....Consortium? What about them? Frankly, I'm not sure I can trust them.

"they've been our ally for thousands of years. as far as i know, they're trustworthy"

Nartan: Yet you told me how divided they are. That is what concerns me.

"I can see your concern. honestly i'm no politician."

Nartan: Nor am I....*Sighs* We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

he pats him on the back re-reassuringly

Nartan: Um....what was that?

"oh, sorry, guess i dont know yer social stuff yet. humans do it to re-assure eachother"

Nartan: Oh....Um, thank you?

"....not sure what to say now"

Nartan: I...am going to just....*Sighs* I don't know. I'm out of my element here....What can you tell me of your Lord Berric? I don't wish to unintentionally offend him.

"he's a good man. honorable, kind, a warrior before a politician, which is what his council is for."

Nartan: A "warrior"? I....fear he and I may not agree on many things then.

"as i said, thats what the council is there for"

Nartan: You do not understand. Ever since I was old enough to serve, I've been fighting warriors. I have seen the atrocities their kind commits with my own eyes.

"he's not like that. He doesnt kill innocents or non combatants or anything like that. he's a fighter but he's not a murderer"

Nartan: I hope you are telling the truth.......I sincerely hope I have no encountered yet another group of madmen who impale children on pikes.

"that....would be a war crime here to say the least"

Nartan: At least your people have a sense of morality then. The nobles...they only have morality when dealing with each other. Otherwise, you're fair game.

"barbarians"

Nartan: That is putting it lightly.

"orks have morals compared to that"
