Hera: *Looking up from her belt.* "Um... not really the time charles."

Charles: sorry. Last night was amazing by the way.

Hera: "Not in public charles, keep it professional."

Charles: fair enough. Still new at this remember.

Hera: "I know, lets just get on shall we?"

Charles: right.

OOC: *lurking intensifies*

Hera: "Lead on, its your briefing."

they reach the bridge. the deathwatch marines are there too. as is Chard. The salamanders are probably there too.

*Jax and serah are absent.*

*The penal legionaries stand behind hera, and wait for charles to start*

Charles: ladies and gentlemen, before we start. I'm sure youre all curious what those things were on the last mission.

*They stay silent*

Charles: Crach has graciously agreed to explain.
Crach: *audible sigh* so I have.

*Logen makes eye contact with Crach, and nods to him, barely perceptibly.*

Crach: what I'm about to tell ye is as secret as it can be. I could be killed or worse for sharin it. And if it got out my brothers could be put to death, or worse.

*Silence*

"They are.... they are my chapter's greatest shame. When an apsiring space wolf receives our geneseed there is a chance that rather than become like me...then those creatures are what they will become. We call them the 'wulfen'."

*The salamanders remain a respectful silence. Logen hooks his thumbs together, making the sign of the aquilla.*

*Lucy gasps involuntarily. Hera, shakes her head solemnly. Hakken looks around, obviously wondering why people aren't reacting more violently.*

Crach: When they happen we usually put then down. Back in russ' day we formed an entire company of them, but they were lost. But.... it seems to become almost inevitable when the canis helix is adminstered to a non fenrisian.

*Continued silence*

Crach: as for the specific ones you faced... I don't know exactly. It seems their leader, Erik, was once one of my chapter. Possibly as far back as the horus heresy itself, as many traitor champions of those days still live. If so, it is likely a majority of his new recruits turn into...those things.

*Noone speaks still.*

"...Any questions?"

Crach: right... in terms of fighting them, in melee you will most likely lose. They are strong, ferocious and devastating. But at range, their armour is about on par with carapace, and so the right weapons can cause devastating damage to them, unless they have storm shields.

Hera: "We could set up a killing field if he have some advance notice."

Charles: If. We may not always have that option.

Hera: "Then we'll have to rely on experienced melee combatants. The astartes, primarily. The rest of us can put up a decent fight, but not for long. We found that out last time."

Charles: agreed.

Hera: "Thankyou for sharing this Crach."

Crach: tis nuthin lass. Also bear in mind theyre not stupid. Just as clever as they were before. Whats more, astartes have heightened senses. We Wolves more so. The wulfrn, even more. Ye flat out cannie hide from em.

Bandit: *Stokes his chin thoughtfully.*

Crach: so if they're around, you WILL have to fight them. They're faster than you, and you cannot hide.

Mac: "Glorious. So we're a little bit fucked, is what you're sayin."

Crach: possibly.

Mac: "Great..."

Charles: we'll be prepared this time. We won't get caught like that again.

Hera: "keep laurence nearby, and don't split the astartes off from the main force."

Charles: exactly.

Hera: "How long 'till we reach the system?"

Charles: hours at best. Best we rest and prepare for now. But first, our objective. *a hologram of the star-forge appears. charles gives a brief description for the sake of those who do not already know*

Hera: *knods slowly* "We'll be ready."

Charles: the enemy will be hot on our heels. So the plan is thus. We will make all speed to the station. We will link up with the fleet of the archmagos and establish a perimiter around the station. Once we have done that, we will set the station on a collision course with the nearby star, and remain guarding it until this course cannot be altered due to the gravitational pull. Then we abandon it. Questions?

Hera: "Can we hold them with just a fleet action, or are we expecting boarding?"

Charles: Unknown. Likely we will have to prepare for boarding.

Hera: "What're the odds?"

Charles: unfortunatly completely unknown. We don't know the size of the force the foe will send.
