| As the sensors pick up on the incoming platoons Khamenes checks with his staff on the current whereabouts of the Destroyers that accompanied his forces. He is informed they've already headed out to meet the enemy rather than wait for his go, to which he's planned for given their all consuming directive. The platoons are soon met by Destroyers in abundance, strafing their lines with their guass cannons mercilessly and retreating when endangered. Khamenes meanwhile has the Doom Scythes readied inside the cruiser so that they may be able to respond to any 'annoyances'. | |

| Khamenes notices this blip on his radar, and if not for the need for the quantum shield he could've used the cruiser's weapons systems to blast it off the map, and could he also use it to shatter the Krieger's front line from long range, but what's in orbit prevents him from trying such a move | |

| Caiber:....for a man who can't talk with biceps the size of my skull, you're surprisingly optimistic.
Guderian: is it now? I should probably pay more attention to the calendar.
the infantry duck down into their deep trenches, the gauss blasters of the destroyers simply kicking up the earth infront of them. meanwhile, the emplaced weapons, such as heavy bolters, autocannons and lascannons open up on the destroyers, scything across the prepared kill zones

| the Heavy Destroyers among them find a new objectives for themselves, using their enhanced targeting to acquire and exploit any weakness in the heavy weapons, lining up their shots and shooting the heavy weapons out, though it does not kill all of the gunners, the Heavy Destroyers take solace in disarming the living and exposing those trapped in their holes. Destroyers who have the opportunity hover over the front line trenches and start racking up the body count by shooting directly down the trench line. the main force of Necrons from earlier continue to march, the rebellious Destroyers filling in the part of the plan as deterrents to the humans and snaring their response to the main force. | |

| the sheer amount of fire directed at the heavy destoyers soon makes any further advance useless. the whole area is a kill zone, carefully prepared with dozens of guns with overlapping arcs of fire. one by one they are simply torn apart by weight of fire. | |

| Soon the Destroyers pull back, their self preservation taking priority over the immediate destruction of the living. The end result of their attack was a heavily damaged frontline over several miles long extending both eastwards and westwards. At this point the main army is left and continuing to push further past the trenchline as Monoliths, Annihilation barges, and swarms of scarabs overwhelm what forces were originally stationed there, not discounting the absolute magnitude of Necron Warriors and Immortals marching with them. | |

| Guderian: ah. Never been one for letting someone else do something I can do myself. ... it sounds like battle has been joined commissar.
Caiber: well in order, my way was, fight fight fight, lose, run, hide, run some more, hide some more, get picked up by some weird psyker bloke.
The kreigers open up on the advancing necrons with punishing tides of las-fire, with more and more men being moved in to plug the gaps the dead men have left. before long, the ground itself trembles as the artillery joins the battle, and shell after shell of incredibly powerful shells rain down on the advancing necrons, enough to flatten anything beneath them. With the dominus adding their guns to this thunder, even the monoliths are under threat of heavy damage.

| With heavy fire directed their way the Monoliths suddenly teleport into phalanx formations, casting night shrouds between each other and establishing a nodial grid around large portions of the Necron forces, effectively making them impervious to destruction as they march onward. with the Monoliths themselves being the conduit for the field, the effect is reduced on them, but for the warriors, immortals, and war machines marching alongside them, they engage the enemy with dreadful efficiency. Meanwhile, Khamenes gives the Doom Scythes their queue and they launch into the fray, their dreadful whining engines is heard minutes later at the frontline, to normal man this would be maddening, but Kriegers won't succumb so easily. Nonetheless dreadful arks of lightning assail the defensive line, and Death Rays pick off entrenched vehicles from above | |

| the air lights up with flakk as the hydra emplacements all along the trenches engage the scythes, peppering the sky with so many shots it's almost impossible to dodge, as imperial navy fighters are scrambled to intercept. In the trenches meanwhile, the sheer amount of fire being thrown at the necrons makes it impossible for them to see under so much thrown up dirt, fire and smoke. and yet more comes. the terrain has become so rough that only the hover vehicles can make any progress, and even they are under heavy fire. the dominus especially, safe and far away from any kind of return fire, are tearing chunks out of the necron vehicles. Even the monoliths aren't safe in their phalanx formation from the sheer power and number of shells that rain down on them. And while the death korps have taken casualties, it's clear from the sheer number of soldiers that they can simply flood the trenches with replacements. the line is holding far better than any imperial defence this overlord has personally encountered. They will not break.
Guderian: doubt commissar? I thought you were made of sterner stuff.
Skitarii: you will halt.

| Khamenes looks over the scanner and a mechanical sigh is heard, "attrition, these primitives would hold us down through sheer attrition." He activates the console again, the map display being replaced with a holographic screen and alien symbols, he speaks into the screen. "All forces able to respond, fallback, initiate transdimensional relocation and fallback. This will not be our end." the holographic screen lights up with chatter from multiple sources. ---meanwhile--- The Necron ground troops, who have up to this point started using the trenches for cover when the nodial field was dissipated by disabled monolith, cease firing and soon the front line is illuminated by an eerie green glow and loud noises as the Necron forces vanish, relocating back to the cruiser and safely behind the quantum shield. the Doom Scythes using the bright green lights and the cacophonous noise to mask their disengagement from the air. Though repelled the ground is littered with limbs and disassembled human bodies, thousands dead and yet their is solace in that Necron bodies litter the field as well, a vast minority to the Imperials but completely inert and darkened nonetheless, the green glow completely gone from them. | |

| At the cruiser, Khamenes is notified of the wraith's catch and is transferred a feed from the wraith. the two Necrons exchange a quick back & forth while the wraith stares the man down emptily before Khamenes passes down a command for the wraith to inspect the vehicle's contents for further details. Soon thereafter the wraith starts rummaging through the vehicle, looking for indicators or details of his purpose, even interfacing with the snow cat to rummage its memory banks if at all possible. From the man's perspective, the wraith is emitting an eerie green glow from its eyes like a scanner as it shuffles through his possessions. | |

| Khamenes considers the validity of this man's threat. The humans' ignorance of this world's past is what one such as he was banking on, but this human could inch the primitives closer to uncovering their purpose here in the first place. With the wraith having scoured the snowcat of its information it turns back to the man, locking him square in its sight as the subordinate responsible for the construct's actions requests permission to dispatch the man, the Commander leaning on his hand against the terminal and rubbing his artificial chin as he ponders a different response. Of course all the man is privy to is a Canoptek Wraith staring him down inside his own vehicle. | |
