*Omun departs. A clerk arrives a little while later.*

Clerk: Please, follow me.

*They arrive at the quarters.*

Clerk: I realize the furnishings may be more opulent then creatures such as yourselves, as Doctor Omun informed me, require, but these quarters are often used to house foreign dignitaries.

Ooc. Am i to imagine a presidential suite with 17th century wood floor and whatnot? XD

Clerk *eyebrow arched and perplexed*: How so?

Helat: windows provide line of sight and weak spots in defenses. Furnishing becomes shrapnel in case of an attack. Too many flammable objects. Buildings structural integrity insufficient to survive sustained attack. buildings layout not optimized for defense and evacuation.

Clerk: Unfortunately, this is one result of politics. If diplomats are not happy they cause....problems. Believe me, if this structure could be more efficiently designed, it would be, but diplomats are very hard to please. Personally, I think this is bit of a grim joke on the Doctor's part. He's never been one for politics or political guests. I suppose he wants to shower them in luxuries while secretly hoping a disaster befalls them.

OOC: Yes. Omun hates politics that much. The man would be happier inventing things and solving the mysteries of the universe.

Helat: ......acknowledged

Clerk: If there is anything you require, please inform us and we will see what we can do.

*The clerk nods and leaves.*

The Agri-Worlders had seen it before, Imperial Ships landing.

Transport ships of the Imperial Guard landed in the capital of the Agri-World, the Governor himself was summoned to meet General Nobunaga and Lord Commissar McKillwrath and they did so, they rolled out the red carpet.

Only...the red carpet ended up stained black.

The honour guard slaughtered when the Highlanders were finally released...The Governors Palace...secured!

You couldn't ask for a more defended forward base.

From there, Tau ships came down, fighters quickly executing what little anti-air defences the Capital had, gone, the men there barely had enough time to scramble to them.

Panic had already gripped the streets and what little likelyhood of communication leaving the planet was quickly and efficiently smothered in the crib.

When the Shas'O finally came, it was as if it was a descending of a benevolent demi-god, upon wings of blue fire.

His suit painted Cobalt and Ashen Gray, an XV9-05, up-armoured in iridium, a pair of twin-linked Fusion Blasters on it's arms...and curiously across the left shoulder of the suit, laid a Canoptek Wraith, it's eye still glowing green, it's tail coiling around the suits midsection before making a form of tail for the suit.

"Citizens of this world...I am Shas'O Ar'Kais, and I require your resources."

OOC: Hey, Ar'Kais. Sorry for not seeing you sooner.

IC: *The Consortium strike team notices this going on from within the city.*

Narick: Damn it...this could complicate things....

dozens of tau fighters begin to be shot down as squadrons of thunderbolts and lightnings move to intercept
and a massive shape moves into orbit above, drop pods raining down upon the palace

Narick: Guess these Ultramarines do have a heavy presence here. Fuck...Let's move!!

"Ultramarines, a challenge."

The Tau made his shark like grin inside of his suit.

"Deploy the XV-104's"

XV-88's on the Palace begin firing up at the raining drop-pods, shots piercing pods left right and centre, the few glancing shots sending the pods spiraling to the floor off course, sending them crashing into buildings.

Nobu: "What shall we do?"

"Defend the palace, this is merely a show of power...I doubt we shall find much from this Company."

The Gue'Vesa set up on the gates of the palace, Auto-cannons deployed alongside XV-8's, equipt for the tide of meat that shall storm them.

OOC: "BEHOLD, IT IS I, CATO SICARIUS, OF THE FAMED ULTRAMARINES 2ND COMPANY."

OOC: NO!!! NOT HIM!! ANYONE BUT HIM!! NOT SICARIUS!! NO!!!!!!!!! X_X

IC:

*The Consortium strike team continues to move through the city, trying to avoid both sides.*

*in a flash, a full ten man terminator squad materializes in the midst of the broadsides. a several furious hammerstrikes later they are dead. the drop pods continue to rain down as tactical squads deploy, the human auxilia being utterly shredded by bolter fire as they advance
deathstorm drop pods also deploy, raining assault cannon fire into the defenders
and at the gates of the palace, a pair of ironclad dreadnoughts charge through the fire uharmed, their chainfsts making mincemeat of the adamantium gate

OOC dear gods I actually laughed a little

AND I, CATO SICARIUS, SHALL UPROOT YOUR PRESENCE VILE XENOS!

OOC: I know we have a rule against killing canon characters in RPs like this, but can we suspend it JUST this once? I mean....we'd have good reason to do so.

Nobu: "HOLD YOUR GROUND MEN!"

He unleashes a powersword, sparks fly as it slides from it's sheath.

Nobu: "We die for honour...against those who would called us heretics, even before joining with our Shas'O!"

"Now the trap is set..."

From the high spires of the Palace, descending upon wings of fiery blue, the XV-9's come crashing down.

The Terminators are beset by Fusion Cascade teams, the volleys of melta-like fusion rending their armour apart, the very heat of the blasts boiling the men inside their armours.

And at the front, an impact infront of Nobunaga's men, before the gates stand a pair...of Riptide Battlesuits.

"Show them the power of the Nova Reactor..."

The Doors of the Palace fling open, men in kilts step out, chainswords in hand...before screaming towards the gates in full sprint.

McKillwrath: "AND THE POWER OF A PISSED OFF SCOTSMAN!"

Nobu: "COVER THEM!"

The Oda formation splits for the Highlanders and quickly begin opening up in volleys of over-charged lasguns, their ammo depleting faster, for that extra penetration power.

*The Consortium team continue to move through the city, unknowingly getting closer to the battle.*

OOC: bwahahahaha! That's great Shas!

OOC: Indeed.

*explosions blossom all over both the riptides the imperial navy fighters, having seen off the tau interceptors with their quick response, are now strafing the palace, aiming their heaviest weaponry at the two gigantic battlesuits, autocannons, lascannons, heavy bolters and missiles flying directly at them as the two dreadnoughts charge them, firing their wrist meltaguns at them. meanwhile the terminators advance on the hazard suits, their shields raised keeping them mostly safe from the return fire*

OOC: Alright. Guys....stop trying to out-CREED each other. Let's get back on track here and not let this devolve into a cluster fuck.

The Suits make a playful dance of hopping around them, occasionally a suit darts in to make the men over-extend before recoiling back while it's brothers fire into the Terminators, a few taking some damage from a surprise hammer.

The shields on the Riptides take a firm beating, their nova-reactor pushing hard, until the ordinance stops.

"My turn."

The Highlanders, battered, losing men still have their zeal and keep charging.

The Shas'O burst forward and activates his Fusion Blades, slashing at one of the dreadnoughts, seeking to go toe to toe with it.

The Riptides however, both open fire on the 2nd Dread, their heavy burst cannons drown the dread in blue pulse, the front withering from the sheer heat, the shots that miss find themselves going into the marines behind them...before the Guardsmen charge into them.

None can say that the Highlands do not go down fighting though.

The Commissar locks himself in a fight with an Ultramarine Sargeant.

McKillwrath: "This is what happens lad, you piss off enough people with your Imperial ways, an' they angry...and trust me...Ah scrapped up the most hateful, murderous sons of bitches tha' weren't chaotic!"

The Tau's colonial ship is not faring that well in space combat, the shields are holding but it can't match it's opponents ordinance....it starts going towards the planet...

OOC just a friendly reminder: a clusterfuck ended up being turned into hilarity as what became as "the Booze Bombardment of Tau"
I laughed heartily when I read it to catch up to the RP when I saw it start out of nowhere in the FG comments
I forget if I actually lost it or not, but I think about it fondly

OOC: I remember reading that in my pre-RP days when I was just a lurker. That was hilarious.

IC: *The Consortium strike team realizes how close they are to the battle and start trying to find ways around it.*

a pair of pods hammer into the ground behind the hazard suits. they had fallen right into a trap. the doors burst open revealing 2 devastator centurion teams, their grav cannons and missile launchers ripping the hazard suits apart

meanwhile the ultramarines near the gate suddenly having received a vox that changes their battle plan take up a ranged stance rather than charging, their tactical doctrines and gun lines preventing the enemy getting close to them as devastator squads set up
the two dreadnoughts backing away from the riptides to reach the ultramarine lines, their hurricane bolters pounding the battlesuits as the one facing arkais focusses on him rather than the riptides

*Strike team is STILL near the battle.....*

McKillwrath: "SMOKES!"

Suddenly, every man unleashes a smoke grenade from their belts, then run back to the palace, the Oda covering their escape.

"...I see"

Ar'Kais twists around the dreads arm, as he slashes it's elbow joint.

"RETREAT! GET UPSTAIRS!"

The forces start to make their way into the palace, to get to the landing pads on the palace, currently occupying Crisis suits, shooting down any fighters that get close, Orcas escorted by fighters are descending from the sky.

"THIS! IS A MESSAGE! TO THE IMPERIUM AND TO ANYOTHERS THAT HEAR ME! I AM AR'KAIS AND I WILL MAKE THE GALAXY FREE FROM TYRANNY!"

He shoves both of his fusion blades through the sarcophagus...deactivating the blades as the dread slumps, he blasts into the air, making his way up the palace.

The Riptides launch a pair of pods up into the air...Ar'Kais catching the pair and hauling them a landing pad.

The Riptides colapse down onto the dreads and some of the marines....

"May your judgement come, ultramar."

The Overloaded Novacores ignite...the explosions rock the palace itself...

*LOVELY!!! Now then...back to the strike team in the backstage break room cause everyone else is chewing or otherwise destroying the scenery.*

Cador:....methinks we picked the wrong day

Narick *surprisingly vulgar for a Yutegan*: That explains this clusterfuck perfectly at this point as far as I'm concerned.

Scorn: would it be a good idea to observe these newcomers? i mean who the hell were those aliens?

The Orcas descend for the pick up...Ar'Kais looks over the edge to see a knight...standing there...just...looking up at him.

"...One day...I'll be standing on top of something like that...in glory...they'll see..."

He boards it, the Orcas and other fighters fight tooth and nail against Astartes and Imperium craft to get towards the rapidly descending Ship.

Narick: Only if we could find a safe enough vantage point. They've turned the area into a war zone.

Cador: actually the aliens are leaving from what i can see. these space marines seem to be good at what they do

Narick: All the more reason to worry about these "Space Marines" then.

The Orcas load into the open bays...the Ship sling shots around the planet and into the deep black, trying to escape as fast as possible, after making some glancing blows on the astartes vessel.
