*hera closes the door behind her* "A bit of a dirge isnt it? Ever heard of morale charles?"

Charles: *chuckles, finishing the chorus* And you could have it all, my empire of dirt. I will let you down, I will make you hurt. *having done so he gently puts down the guitar and stands up*

Hera: "Throne thats fething depressing." *she stands in front of the door with one eyebrow raised and a thumb hooked into the pocket of her britches*

Charles: was written by a musical legend back on old terra, close to his death. Not happy in the slightest, but I like it. Very meaningful, well written.

Hera: *shrugs* "I prefer some good Arani pipes, but thats just me... Not heard any since Jackson died actually..."

Charles: fair enough. Maybe I'll have to play you something else later. Anyway, something wrong?

Hera: "I just broke up a fistfight. It seems your scions don't appreciate the 8th's presence."

Charles: is that so?

Hera: "Apparently their melee drill was 'Sub par' and Lucy offered to appraise the trooper who made the remark of how melee combat actually goes."

Charles:.... details hera, not fancy wording.

Hera: "She heel kicked him in the nose, broke it. He's in the infirmary, then his comrades moved to help, and mute got involved. Credit to your men, they actually tried to fight him."

Charles:...and, this started how exactly?

"A comment from the trooper lucy kicked. He claimed their melee drill was sub par. I've mentioned that already."

Charles: wonderful.

Hera: "In summary, i've dealt with lucy, four of your men are in the infirmary. You can deal with them however you see fit."

Charles: right. Nothing too severe I should think. Just make sure they watch their mouths more.

Hera: "I'll have to think on how to inspire a little more respect in them."

Charles: I think I know a part of it. You were a commissar. They aren't fans of that rank.

"Are." *she corrects him with a pointed look*

Charles: Right, sorry.

Hera: "Commissars are not, on the whole, liked. But we are nessesary."

Charles: aye, in most cases. Not here however.

"Even the best soldiers can loose their nerve, or break the rules Charles. Swift discipline is the only solution."

Charles: not the only solution. There are ways to inspire men without fear.

Hera: "Very true. But discipline must be upheld. There must be consequences."

Charles: obviously. But that doesn't mean execution.

Hera: "Some offences have no other suitable punishment."

"Less than the commissariat would have you believe"

Hera: "Deserters, murderers, rapists? Incompetent commanders?"

Charles: context is important, although in all those cases execution in an option. Others however, are not. The primer is a bit of a sticking point for me.

Hera: "The written rules of the commissariat are basically unworkable, true. But on the battlefield there are few other options for punishment."

Charles: depending on the exact circumstances. I'm not a fan of ruling through fear.

"I did command a penal legion, if you remember."

Charles: I know. Desperate times, desperate measures.

"In my experience. Combat is desperate about eighty percent of the time."

Charles: varying degrees of it.

"but then i'm biased. The spinward front was brutal, even by warzone standards. And Lord General Bevin is a fething moron."

Max: "Good point, you want the to deal with the one Kerak cleared?"

Akira: "Sure, i'll have it running in a few hours."

Max: *He nods* "I'll introduce myself to the poor bastard running the other heap and then meet you here for dinner?"

Akira: "Put one between his eyes for me."

Max: *He nods and starts walking to his boarding pod*

OOC: Got any ideas on what Akira n Max could do?

Charles: right. Sorry.

Hera: "Maybe with elite soldiers like these you don't think you have to be heavy handed, but they still need discipline."

Charles: obviously. Just not quite to the level of execution for most things.

Hera: "I know you don't like to use fear, but not all of them will be fanatically loyal to you charles."

Charles: Good. That way if I do something wrong, they'll tell me.
